GERES

GERES is an independent non-profit organization that has been promoting sustainable development for over thirty years both in the North and in the South.

GERES team is a panel of highly committed & experienced energy specialists, environmentalist, agronomist, architects, rural development specialists, and many more. Their experiences, know-how and expertise permit us to work in the fields of energy & environment, and to extend our continuous service and technical assistant, with deeply considering cultural, social, economic, and geographical contexts.

In the North, in the South

Think globally, act locally

GERES has chosen to act both in the North and in the South to deal with energy, environment and poverty alleviation, which are universal issues. Appropriate method that fits to local condition is a key to share the objectives. Acting in the North and in the South, permits the pooling of experiences and the establishment of networks to facilitate exchanges of know-how, technology transfer and method sharing.

GERES has also created «CO2solidaire», a program proposing voluntary compensation scheme of CO2 emissions, promoting awareness on climate change in the North to ensure innovative financial supports towards development programmes in the South.

  • Hundreds of micro enterprises in the South are accompanied in running their business
  • In France, awareness grows as thousands of people annually receive advices and information on energy, wastes or climate.
  • Development and dissemination of information means to communities through public authorities: technical guides, information leaflets, etc…

Working in partnership

  • We work in close partnership with different actors in the fields (rural communities, NGOs, enterprises, local authorities, etc…) to enable sharing of experiences and knowledge to each other. This participative in partnership is necessary to allow local partners to take over and sustain the activities. So, each partner involves in project development and participates in the ongoing process.
