PSH : Passive Solar Housing the Western Himalayas
Coming project
This project aims at:
- improving the livelihoods of the rural populations living in remote areas by improving unhealthy conditions in households during winter
- alleviating energy vulnerability
- reducing the pressure on the local environment (desertification) and global environment (global warming) as well as assisting the rural population to cope with regional climate changes that affect housing (flooding, roof damage)
- enabling the development of income generation in the newly improved habitat (promoting handicraft business activities : wool transformation, leather and wood works)
- building capacity of civil society & organizing NGOs in network to disseminate energy efficiency initiatives
Five local partner NGO are involved in this coming project: LEHO, LNP, LEDeG, STAG and SECMOL that will be implemented with the collaboration of Ladakh and Himachal Government.
This project will enable 1000 households in 100 remote villages to incorporate energy efficiency in new or retrofitted domestic houses.
Climate change
3500 tons CO2 will be yearly saved. A carbon-emission based finance scheme will sustain the network for further dissemination on the completion of the project.
